FinallyI have some time uploading these photos. It has been a busy andstressful past few days after the trip. It's always nice looking backat these photos and I think the trip really did give me a nice 6 daybreak. Too short, the only thing I can complaint is it's too short. : )
The following is basically the travel agenda:
27 September - 2 October 2008
Day 1: Auckland - Taranga
Day 2: Taranga - Gisbane
Day 3: Gisbane
Day 4: Gisbane - Napier (stopover) - Rotorura
Day 5: Rotorura
Day 6: Rotorura - Hamilton (stopover) - Auckland
Ithink it's still a bit rush considering we've been to so many placesand busy catching up with our activities. We basically only stayed at Gisbane for a day plus but the purpose of this trip is visiting friends in Gisbane so that's why I name this "Trip to Gisbane". Howelse should I call it? Anyways, happy photo time!
DAY ONE: AUCKLAND - TARANGA
L&Pis one of NZ's iconic brands which originated from Paeroa. As you cansee the banners are all the classic L&P labels.

We arrived at a boutique restaurant in Taranga for lunch
It's a Saturday afternoon, people are enjoying themselves in and outside of the restaurant. A real lifestyle living. Hehe.
And we are going to order...let's see...

Then we checked out the Information Centre. I've never seen this kind of mailbox before, hence I took a photo.
This one needs no explanation.
Shops...
A random shot just to remember what the waterfront is like.
Carpark was free, because it's Saturaday!! Yay! Maybe that's why some pepole hat Auckland so much. LOL
DAY ONE (Cont)...
We arrived at the foot of Mt Whanganui in the evening.
Oceanside Resort - 5 star accommodation. hehehe
It's got a huge kitchen which includes pretty much everything. So we cooked our own meal there...plus a glass of wine. : )
DAY TWO: TARANGA - GISBANE
I love National Geographic channel...! After breakfast, we went out to claim the mountain.
I've never been inside one of these. I think it should be quite fun.
Someone tried to prove not only Li Ling can fly...
The kids also enjoyed mountain climbing.
This seems to be am easier way of carrying the heavy tripod...
The adjacent island looks pretty nice. Everything looks clean and pure.
It was an extraordinary weather on that day, given it rained for a whole day yesterday.
New toy?

"Feed my sheep"
Now we were at Whakatane for lunch. It was already about 2:30pm.
About 7:00pm, we finally reached our destination Gisbane to visit Tim & Lou. Poor Lou was sick that day. = (
Tim took us to the hill.
Ican't remember the name of the hill because I wasn't paying attention.Setting up the tripod and positioning the camera kept me busy enough.
Thesun had set, and the twilight was slowly fading. Watching the citylight at this time added a bit of sadness...but it's nice...and chill.
Timwas telling us about how people had placed the wrong statute of CaptainCook here as the appearance and age appear on this statute don't seemto match Cook's age at that time. Again I wasn't paying much attention.

The stars in the sky remind me of the indescribable love of God.
I am probably the creationist type. In the presence of nature, I feel amazed.
The backyard of Tim & Lou's garden. Of course that's their "old home"
Super time...Tim happily received the new recipe for making magic muffins.
these are the most expensive muffins because they kept the oven on for about 2hrs!!!
Tim was baker of the night!
DAY 3: GISBANE
A big chunk of tree in Grey's bush...
Lucky us, free admission to museum on Monday!
It surely deserves seriousness
kids are used to height, i didn't dare to stand close to the edges...hopefully no train ever passes this track...
the flower was devouring the sun
the kids in primary school are so lucky to have these...@___@
thislittle house belong to an American family. they open this place as acommunity house so people who live around it can climb up here and rest.
the view here is Brilliant!
DAY 4: GISBANE - NAPIER - ROTORURA
Some interesting signs before the information center of Napier
I like the shopping centre in Napier. Cafes are widely available on the street.
Shotfrom 2nd floor of the cafe, an interesting perspective that sees thewhole area including the kitchen. it's the first time I wish I had a10.5mm nikkor fisheye.
colourful houses in uniformity, neat
on the way to Rotorura, i found the roads were quite straight and plain there
we went past lake taupo
motels here ofter private spa...honestly, to me it's not much different from lying down in your own bathroom.
