坎大中国学生学者联谊会(UCCSSS)向在坎大学习的广大学生发出倡议，呼吁大家积极向灾民伸出热情援手，及时捐赠，帮助灾区人民渡过生活难关。有了您的援助，灾区的伤病者将能更早康复，饥寒者将有更多温饱，失屋者将得更安全庇护，失学者将会更快回到课堂……一方有难，八方支援；地震灾害无情，人间充满真爱，同胞们，让我们积极地行动起来，万众一心，众志成城，用我们的微薄之力去帮助灾区人民重建家园！

所募集善款将通过中国驻新西兰大使馆转交到灾区，全部用于灾后校园重建，帮助灾区的孩子尽快重返校园,继续学习,并将及时通过学联论坛更新和公布捐款的使用情况,接受社会公众监督。

地点:UCSA Building
90 Ilam Rd, Ilam, Christchurch

时间：5月21日-23日，10：30am - 3：30pm

Uni rules cramp student relief collectors

A student plan to raise funds for the victims of China's earthquake has been vetoed by Canterbury University's Vice-Chancellor.

The 7.9 quake struck China's Sichuan province on Monday afternoon, killing nearly 20,000 and trapping thousands of people under schools, factories and houses.

Chinese students at Lincoln University and Christchurch International College have raised thousands over the past couple of days to help those affected.

However, a request to run a similar campaign at Canterbury University was denied.

In an email, Vice-Chancellor Roy Sharp said university policy allowed only registered charities to operate on campus.

"Unfortunately, while we have a great deal of sympathy for your cause, we cannot have special interest groups which are not registered charities raising funds on the campus," he said.

Christchurch Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CCSSA) president Jerry Dai said he was "extremely disappointed" by Sharp's decision.

"I understand the policy, but I thought the boss makes the policy anyway and it's really a very special moment for all the Chinese. I was hoping he would make an exception to the rule," he said.

Students could set up a stand at the Students' Association, but Dai said many students and staff would not pass there.

"Policy has no heart, but we have. Condolences are elegant, but urgent help is needed," he said.

Chinese students made up 34 per cent of the university's international full-time students last year.

The Lincoln University Chinese Students Association raised funds on their campus on Thursday and Friday of over $5000. Association president Fujun Shen said people had been very generous.

Christchurch International College students spent yesterday collecting donations around the central city.

Vicky Huang said people's generosity and warm wishes had brightened a difficult week.

"Every night we gather and watch the news on television hoping and praying the death toll will not go any higher. But every day we just see more heartbreak," she said.

"Everybody we met offered their sympathy at the tragedy that has struck our country. I'm very glad to be lucky enough to study in a city with so many compassionate people."

Christchurch Zhonghua Chinese Society president Mei Ding said a meeting of Canterbury Chinese associations on Thursday night had raised more than $4000.

The community was organising a fundraising event in Cathedral Square next Saturday, with photos and speeches about the disaster.

支持...............但是你们要注意, 除了UC自己的规定外....筹集款项必须是要注册的机构另外还要申报的.....

她说所有捐款直接汇至中国大使馆
不会给本地的慈善组织的

大家可能并不知道,注册过的慈善机构,实际上他们是可以按照比率利用善款发工资,或者挪作其他用途,可具体的数字,你就不知道了.

当然,我相信无论你捐给谁都好,你都尽了一份心意.大家都是在为灾区做贡献.

恩，不错！但是还是不愿意捐给国外的机构，正如你所说的，他们有权力挪作其他用途。而且从政治上考虑，直接捐给中国机构可以代表我们中国留学生的心意。如果从国外机构转手，那么性质就不一样了，那是代表该机构或者该国家对中国的捐款。不过不管什么形式，只要这笔钱能够被送到灾民的手中，就可以了。

太感动了，国人都相当慷慨，外国人都相当支持同情，有一捐再捐的，捐过的也走过来说谢谢，我们也使劲地说谢谢... 千言万语，说出口也就几个字

UCSA对我们特别的关怀支持，在捐款转账上给与我们很大的帮助...

我们的努力和感受真的可以传递没有界限没有距离只要多一点耐心多一点理解
