近几周吃麦当当都没有番茄酱，是中国运不过来吗？

以前公司的美女会计就跟我说过这个单词，她说如果记不住，就说“开车”

后来。。。我就只记得开车了

第一次听到ketchup是印度朋友告诉我的。
可能是英式英语和美式英语的区别？
反正一般人都懂

其实具体啥区别，很多欧美人也分不清的。。我个人感觉吧。。直接蘸着吃的是ketchup。。。而用来cook食材的是tomato sauce。。。

In the 17th century, the Chinese had a sauce made using anchovies and spices called ke-chiap. By the 18th century, the Brittish were introduced to the sauce in the new Brittish colonies in the Malay states (present day Malaysia and Singapore). The Malaysian-Malay word for the sauce was kicap or kecap (pronounced "kay-chap"). That word evolved into the English word "ketchup". The Brittish took the recipe for the sauce back to Britain. Eventually, the sauce was introduced by the British to the new American colonies, where it was also known as ketchup or sometime catchup.

Many variations of ketchup were created, including a mushroom version, but the tomato-based version did not appear until about a century later after other types, when tomatoes became commonplace. Early versions of tomato catchup or ketchup still contained anchovies, but by the mid 1850s the anchovies had been dropped from most recipes, which were simplified to typically contain just tomatoes, salt, sugar, vinegar and spices.

The tomato version of the sauce was also known in many parts of the world as just "tomato sauce", particularly in Britain and other British colonies like Australia. It was the same sauce, just a different name.

Today, the two names are still used interchangeably in different parts of the world for what is essentially the same sauce, albeit that there are minor differences in the specific ingredients used by different manufacturers in different regions.

Ketchup 和tomato sauce 是有区别的。新西兰这边一般卖Watties tomato sauce , heinz tomato sauce. 而ketchup 一般会出口澳洲。个人感觉ketchup 要酸一点，更适合蘸薯条。
新西兰现在确实缺少蕃茄酱的原材料tomato paste.因为新冠的原因，海运普遍涨价和延迟。这直接导致 tomato sauce 生产的延后。而新西兰进口的原材料其实很多是美国进口的。多少是中国进口的我就不知道了。
