Auckland's Skypath project may have hit the end of the road.
The Herald understands current plans for the cycle and walking path across the harbour will be scrapped.
Waka Kotahi won't confirm it's being dumped - but has advised Bike Auckland, the Northern Pathway plan has technical problems with how the pathway is supported.
Similarly, Transport Minister Michael Wood is keeping mum.
He's told the Herald he's confident of a good outcome, but describes the pathway as involving significant and complex engineering issues.
Bike Auckland chairwoman Barbara Cuthbert told Mike Hosking she believes the Transport Minister is looking at other options.
"Michael Wood says they are working on an another project to build walking and cycling to get us across the bridge.
"We don't know what that looks like, but that's what he's saying."
