A woman who died in prison on Monday had been complaining of pain and discomfort for months before she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, her family says.
Fung Chu Sze, 58, who was originally from Hong Kong, had been housed at Auckland Region Women's Corrections Facility for the past six years after being found guilty of importing drugs.
About 4.30am on Monday, she was found unresponsive in her cell during a welfare check and pronounced dead after attempts at CPR were unsuccessful.
