“This is particularly an issue for part-time employees some of whom normallyearn less than the $350 per week. We urge employers to use normal hoursin the period before COVID-19 to assess the amount to be paid,” Grant Robertsonsaid.
Q: As an employer, how mucham I obliged to pay the employees named in my application for the COVID-19 WageSubsidy (after it was modified on March 27) if they are not working?
A: You must try your best to pay your staff at least 80% of their regularwages/salary where reasonably possible. If this is not possible re the belowexamples as a guideline.
Example 1:
John normally works part-time 8 hours a week @ $18 per hour.
*Part-time Wage Subsidy of$350 per week has been claimed for John.
John will be paid his normal weekly pay of $144 before PAYE.
