The businessman accused of bribing an Auckland Council official can be named for the first time.
Sunil Chand took his bid for name suppression all the way to the Court of Appeal after the Auckland District Court and High Court in Auckland ruled against him.
Chand is accused of paying a bribe to now-former Auckland Council official Sundeep Dilip Rasila in exchange for a council contract worth over $150,000.
His lawyer Aaron Kashyap had argued that naming his client would cause undue hardship to his teenaged daughter at school.
