China won't recognize civil law of NZ. Furthermore, Yan is a nominee of the Chinese state enterprise. Do you think the Chinese Court will recognize NZ judgment? (under the close watch of the Party).

There is no mutual enforcement of judgment signed between NZ and China (Treaty). So, it is dreaming for NZ to think they can get Yan personally.

Before the Chinese government bought up Mainzeal, it was near collapsed, they should be thankful now rather than still wanting to milk some more money.

These properties are untouchable, it belong to the trust. Yan and family only has the right to stay, do not own it technically.
In another word, this is only paper judgment, worth nothing in real term. Only the media get excited.

不是很明白这里面的背景和提到insurer。一般宣布破产都是公司或是个人比如生意亏本了等等。这种做生意可以进行保险？文中提到其他三个人有insurer cover那些损失。难道保险公司还保险这些？不知道做什么生意。

There is a professional indemnity insurance for Independent directors in the case of Public listed Company. the company has to pay a high premium.

The insurance covers unintended mistakes, negligence etc. They are lucky this time that the insurance is willing to step in, may be because there was ex-prime minister involved.
Yan is not independent, he is an executive director.

The liquidators sued all the directors for reckless trading causing losses. This is a difficult case to prove, but they proved it in the sense that while the Company was near insolvency, they continued trading and making people think they are solvent therefore reckless and incur a lot of debts during that period.

What sink this company was some unprofitable projects and some leaky projects, that came back to bite them.

我听说过这个，但是不是每种行业，每宗交易都可以保的，但是大概向你说的有前首相在，所以保险公司理赔就当是打广告了。这个另外的中国人当初也应该买这个保险。

not as simple as that. Yan is not qualified for that insurance as he is not independent, he has a vested interest in the company, shareholder as well.

当无赖是可耻的。他在新西兰有财产，走法律程序就好了。好在有财产，不然债权人太无辜了！必须要求中国引渡回新西兰，判刑。

文章说的欠1.8 million，新西兰的财产不知道多少，如果不够或是都转会国内了，就是都变卖了也估计差很多的。
