Some people collect stamps, motorbikes or Disney memorabilia but Crown Xu collects military weapons - and now he worries one of his most prized items will be taken away from him.
The 64-year-old, who lives in a rural West Auckland town, owns a gun so precious he states it's the only one of its kind in the world.
Xu is a man who in his own words, "works hard to play hard", and he believes he should be allowed to keep his gold-plated AK-47 despite the new law to ban all semi-automatic and military-style weapons.

When asked whether he planned to hand over his weapons to police before September, Xu shook his head - "it's too horrible to think of right now."
"I'm waiting to see what happens," Xu said while tenderly holding the gun in his arms.
