谢谢大家回复，更新一下情况，因为房子屋检检出了很多问题，房子买不成了，所以律师的事无所谓了

不是吧，我刚买了一套crosslease的三室一厅砖房、已经挂在skykiwi上准备出租了！
感觉等不起啊，dunedin房子本身价格就不高，一直在涨！虽说新政快出来了，不过打算长期投资了！爱怎么样怎么样吧！

Both will have a different level of service and experience.

"如果给不起律师费，可以找别人" - this sound like cantonese way of speaking and writing. That is, they don't know about you, and don't want time waster. If you want to engage their service, let them know immediately, their might be urgent thing (eg condition, title, etc) they need to attend to.

With Anti money laundering legislation, they need to do Client due diligent ( ie knowing who you are and your background, your source of fund etc) especially if you are a new client.

i don't think is rude, it is a business. Take it or leave it kind of game. 玻璃心 will get hurt easily.

这还不算rude嘛？反正我是没见过这么说话的“生意人”。类似于这种“买不起就别买”之类的话，至少在新西兰我是从来没听到过。你会对洋大人这么说话吗？再说了房子都买得起还付不起这点律师费吗，一两千块钱的事情。说这种话的人真是素质很差。

没有签engagement letter 之前，可以换的。不过就算是客人讨价还价，律师也不应该说这种话。

Totally Disagreed, I m Cantonese and I almost cant find any other words ruder than 'IF this is un-affordable for you,Then... ' Biz is Biz if you believe this customer is time waster than simply let him know you dont wanna serve him, that is. Undoubtedly, "Unaffordable" is insulting people in Cantonese.

Not limited to Cantonese, Shanghainese use this sentence to show nothing but despise against the one they are speaking to.

If they need to attend to another client, just let them know that we are too busy to take you as my client. My point is that it its totally unnecessary to put that sentence, not so professional.

我个人觉得无所谓，我的理解是律师说的是，如果你嫌贵，不买没关系，告诉我就好。就事论事，我不会觉得不舒服。

但就大多数人的感觉是，包括外国人，听到销售这么说话，肯定有鄙视的意思。

You might have misunderstood my meaning.

LZ's agreement might have conditions ( that is due for confirmation urgently etc), or time is running out for title objection etc, so the lawyer needs some urgent confirmation from LZ on their engagement. They might have quoted the estimate of fee in their email etc, waiting for LZ to confirm before they take on the service.

All these lead to " if you think it is expensive to you, you can fine someone else". i think LZ is taking an extract sentence without refering to the background of the communication.

人家律师是说，“如果你付不起律师费可以找别的律师” 这和你说的 “如果你嫌贵，不买也没关系，告诉我就好” 表现出的态度是完全不同的好不好，怎么会有人买的起房子却付不起律师费？连小学生都能听出来
