Good afternoon
I trust this email finds you well.
This morning the NZ Herald published an article regarding a Ronovationz DVD that had been distributed to APIA members. The story has evolved quickly over the course of the morning and I feel that it is important for you to hear from me as to the actions we are taking to protect the Association and our members.
We were founded in 1995 with the core belief that learning and education are the key to unlocking your growth potential. Over the years we have successfully supported ordinary Kiwis to becoming responsible landlords and making sound financial decisions with your rental portfolios. We believe in high ethical standards and do not condone any form of unfair exploitation of business counterparts whether they be tenants, contractors, vendors, or buyers. Extracted comments from the DVD as reported by the Herald do not reflect that of our values. As an orgnaisation, we do not condone the practices preached.
As with many other non-profit organisations, we rely on the support of both members and sponsors to maintain our high standards of service. From time to time, materials supplied by sponsors are distributed to APIA members in good faith. The concerned DVD is one such material. It was produced and supplied to us by Ronovationz. Our deficiency in this instance has been that we had not vetted the material closely enough before distribution. For that, I take full responsibility.
With respect to the article and the impact it has had on APIA, our members, and sponsors, I would like to report to you the following:
I will keep the membership abreast of any further developments. In the mean time, please do not hesitate to write to me directly if you have any specific concerns or inquiries.
- Distribution of the DVD has been immediately halted;
- A media statement has been released to major outlets and published on the APIA website;
- In the coming days we will be reviewing the appropriateness of all sponsored materials distributed to members including the entirety of the concerned DVD;
- We will be conducting an internal review of our relationship with Ronovationz, taking into account the totality of its business values, to ensure that if the relationship is continued, it would be in the best interest of our members and other business partners. We will also be seeking a formal meeting with Ronovationz.
Kind wishes
