As what F11 said in his post, it is ok for yourself to stay in, but the price will not rise up as much as other houses.
I bought my house 3 yrs ago, a brick one, the market value has raised about 50% since then.
Back then, I viewed another plaster house in the same area built by univers*l home and was selling at the same price as mine 3 yrs ago. This house was put back into the market not long ago, the asking price was only roughly 25% higher than 3 yrs ago.
