今天和team leader 提了辞职的事，结果team leader和他的manager 约谈我好几次，都想让我留下，觉得他们也挺有诚意的。现在更加纠结了，自己以前也换过很多次工作了，第一次这么纠结 counter-offer应该明天就可以给我。

出来干活钱是很重要的一个factor,谁也不是做义工。

我的底线是我拿到的钱最次也要match我现在拿的，如果现钱match不了，就要车位，bonus, insurance。

打工的，基本上来说哪钱多去哪儿。除非新工作极具吸引力。

haha, looks like many people in this forum didn't think too much from long term perspective.
In this context, taking 6-7k reduction in salary per year is not that big deal. I think it's safe to assume your salary is 80k+, and taxed at 33%. That means after tax the base salary difference is around 4k? is 4k a year important enough to alter your career decision?

I'll take another guess and assume your are between 25-35, that means there is still at least 20 years of career in front of you. You should think which job will give you more long term value in the next 20 years.

However, my personal view is finance industry is the best sector in IT. So there is also good long term benefit to stay in finance sector. Plus finance sector is just about the only sector give out decent bonus these days in NZ / AUS. In this context, if i were you, I will only quit my job if I see absolutely no chance to progress up.

非常赞同。如果在目前公司升architect无望，可以接，作为一个跳板；如果努力一下近几年有希望升职，还是不要接。我在public sector做了好几年了，除了轻松一些，薪酬，机会，挑战性都远远不如corporate。public里面Dev的平均年龄比corporate要大5到10岁，如果楼主已经步入中年，可以去享受一下work-life balance，如果还年轻，会被耗干的。

public sector还有一个缺点，就是stability的重要性远大于creativity，造成了Operation的budget远高于Dev的budget，所以你会发现你大部分时间是在被动的修东西，而不是主动的造东西。

you should go with your inspiration. If it feel 'right' to you, just take it.

Moving from senior dev to architect is definetly a step up in terms of career progression.

But move from finance to public sector (espeically city council) will be a step down in terms of industry expereince.

Auckland City Council's architecture team have extremely high turnover rate, and as the newest member (possibly one of the most junior too?) in the architectural team, you probabily won't have much say in strategy and roadmap. Most often new / junir architect is just expected to deliver all the impossible visions and goals with unrealistic budget and timeframe. But don't get me wrong, it's not a bad thing, it's a process most people go through.

IT architect跟dev architect不一样啊。
似乎跟你所做工作关联不是很大，不一定是职业的上升

It is a Solution Architect role, the title might be slightly different.

Thanks , I decide to take the role. I think the experiences is harder to get and my development experiences is in a very niche market . It is very harder to find SA in a corporate environment. I think the role will definitely give me a lot of opportunities.

why dont you ask them to match your current salary? say ywa really want to join the team but need to support your family so cannot afford a pay cut. If the really want you most likely they will.

I did , but they already gave me the best salary they can. Public sector does not pay bonus , that's the difference.

也可以了，换个角色，只要工作内容是自己想要的，有时候没办法计较太多，人生苦短，抓紧时间做自己想做的事。

老板现在都记得我当年跳到新西兰来放弃了很多。

那就有意思了，薪资也许可以match，但职位和角色怎么counter？
