New Zealand Mathematical Olympiad Team

Prince Michael Balanay -    Botany Downs Secondary College
George Han -                Westlake Boys' High School
Miles Yee-Cheng Lee -    Auckland International College
Martin Luk -                   King's College
Xuzhi Zhang -                Auckland Grammar School

新西兰2015国际数学奥林匹克代表队产生，7月将代表新西兰去泰国参赛，朋友的孩子顺利入选，祝贺！
6位学子全部来自奥克兰，都是男孩，5位华裔，3位来自私校，3位公校；教学系统 NCEA 1, IB 2, CIE 3.

整个筛选过程漫长，竞争激烈，一般从9月份的Semptember selection question开始（开卷），选出24-28人参加一月份一周的数学camp,camp前这些入选的人会参加一个英国奥林匹克初试（BMO1,一般11月考），camp结束时会再有一个选拔赛，这个结果加上BMO1的成绩将决定下一轮12人team的人选，这12人接着会有3个大的竞赛（包括英国竞赛2(BMO2)，澳大利亚奥林匹克赛(AMO)，亚太奥林匹克赛(APMO)) 以及4个大的作业，所有这些结果综合起来，4，5月份才最后决定6人的国家队。

这些孩子大概都是什么年龄呢？

一般15-17，天赋加努力。

Prince Michael Balanay 也是亚裔，好像是从菲律宾或者某个南亚国家来的。

那就不知道为什么了。
最后六人一般是12，13年级学生，不过都准备了好几年。。

9月选拔题 http://www.mathsolympiad.org.nz/ ... 4/08/2014_NZMOC.pdf
选出24-28人参加一月份的数学camp(1周，在奥大）；
上述学员会先参加一个英国奥数1比赛（BMO1, 11月末）http://www.bmoc.maths.org/home/bmo1-2015.pdf ；
紧接着一周的camp里，学生们（分初级高级两个teams)会有密集的课程培训，习题训练，最后有一个测试，测试结果加上BMO1成绩将决定前12人选，这12人team将参加下面三个竞赛以决定最后六人代表队：

哇，北大家教也来skykiwi啊，久闻大名。您那俩学生是不是后来跟另一个老师了？因为我朋友的孩子说现在这几个入选的学生基本上都是他老师的学生，除了George。当然George Han 是不需要任何老师的。

kevin我教过。现在在哪个老师我我不确定。xuzhi 和miles应该不在别的老师哪里， miles一直在我这。。。学生太多没时间1-1了。教这个太需要时间。

some many professional teachers here, could anyone tell when is the best time to train or explore advanced maths skills for the child if she/he is good at maths.

how could tell whether the kid could do better maths, or what is the age could tell that please?

by the way, all of above students take extra enrichment class outside school, right?

I thought my daughter wher she was year 8. I started Olympiad math when she was mid of year nine. She was quite late comparing to other team member. You noticed that she has talent when she was three.
当然我知道他们队里有的小学就开始了

Hi, thanks for ur reply. you mentioned you found she has talent just 3yrs. but how to tell it is talent.
my boy is in yr1 now, and early this yr, his maths level is at stage 4 which was told by the teacher. but I do not know whether it is good enough to tell he has talent on maths. because junior maths is really just about calculation. by the way, Olympiad math has to be trained by private teacher or could be offered at school. many thanks,

她三岁时只认识钟上的数字，从没有教过她数学，却自己做姐姐8岁数学作业，而且做对了，所以我觉得有talent.

Schools don't offer Olympiad math course. It's much harder than normal math questions. People who teach Olympiad math are usually former Olympiad math students

团体排名：在参赛的114个国家中，排名49，很不错了。
