Harvey Karp’s book “The Happiest Baby on the Block”. He suggests using the 5 ‘S’ techniques for babies during the ‘4th trimester’. These include Swaddling, Shushing, Swaying, Sucking and Side-sleeping.
Big on swaddling and white noise. But some white noise doesn't help baby sleep when they r more than 4 months old.
U can nurse or rock baby to sleep. But after put baby to bed(when baby is asleep), wake him up a bit, just a few seconds. Then baby will drift off again.
Encourage to nurse to sleep. Saying baby easily falls asleep while nursing naturally. I.e. Feed baby before naps or sleep time. Play after wake?!
No-cry Sleep solution by Elizabeth Pantley
Step by step. Takes lots of time and patience. Keep 10 days log. Where baby falls asleep. How. Where does baby sleep after falling asleep. For how long. Review plan.
For breastfeeding mums. Remove nipple before baby falls sleep. If babu fusses, put him back on but keep trying. If baby gets really upset. Ok to put him to sleep the usual way. Might be very useful for co-sleep mums.
Love how the author suggests parent to think about why and whether want to sleep train baby, not because what others say or think. But You. And then make a commitment and plan from there. Maybe because the author is a breastfeeding mum herself, u feel the way she writes is really comforting and encouraging.
Establishing key words to sleep time. Such as " night night, sleep tight." Say it when baby is almost falling asleep not when putting him down for bed to make the connection first.
Establish routines. Be flexible.
Not much on putting baby to naps.
Help baby stretch his naps by putting him back to sleep before fully awake.

Establish routines.
Leaving baby to cry. Not suitable for baby under 4 months. Baby rely on others to sleep. No bad sleep habits in first 4 months. Love your baby as much as needed.
Do check-in 5 minutes. Then 10 minutes. Then 15 minutes. Can take up to an hour for baby to fall asleep.
During check-in, best not to pick up or touch child. Each check- in maximum 30 seconds. If need to pick up or touch baby, max 1 minutes. Keep the baby in bed during ur scheduled bed time, day or night. Sleep or awake.
Some babies always need to cry out to sleep to burst out the energy.
Night sleep training and naps training together. Ok to separate.
All books suggest the ultimate solution is to put baby to bed when drowsy(really sleepy) but awake. Pantley suggests a very gentle plan, making subtle small changes at a time. To start with putting baby to sleep on his own after falling asleep. Then Remove the nipple before baby falls asleep.
All books suggest establishing routines. Especially for night time. Routines can include bath, massage, books, nurse/bottle. Create a dark and quiet environment for night sleep. Dim the light for night time routine. Keep the light dim when woke up at night. Not to play with baby when woke at night. Easy Sleep Solution even suggest a day nap routine.
All books suggests putting baby down for naps or sleep immediately when baby shows signs of tiredness: red eyes, rubbing eyes, yawning, pulling ears, losing interest to play/ interact with others, fussiness. Baby fights sleep more when they get overtired.
