I know this is always a popular Chinese restaurant in East Auckland, and I would always think it should be one of the best in Auckland. But last Sunday, I witnessed what could be called `The Truth of Customer Services’ and suggested everyone to watch out. This is not hearsay, I witnessed the whole process myself and spoke to the victim to understand what had happened afterwards.
A Chinese man booked a table for 2 at 12 o’clock; he was waiting for his friend to turn up. A waitress turned up and knowing it is a table for 2, with only 1 man turned up at 12 o’clock, invited him to the table he booked. Arriving at his table, the waitress noted that there is a 1 hour limit due to heavy hours. The man agreed. He also explained his friend will be arriving within 15 minutes since he was running late. At this point of time, the waitress got angry and asked the man to wait outside instead of occupying the table while his friend was running late. The man explained it is not polite to ask a customer to go back to the waiting area after the waitress invited him to his table. This waitress got angrier and said you are not welcome and will call police if he don’t leave. The men politely said don’t worried; start the clock counting on the 1 hour clock limit. The waitress didn’t back off and asked the man to leave. The man asked to see the boss. The waitress stated she is the wife of the boss; hence she is in control here. At the same time, this man’s friend arrived. He is a frequent customer of this restaurant and this waitress knows him quite well. She totally changed and tried to explain. And of course, there is no point for these 2 men to dine in a restaurant like this.
