The man was not believed to have used a gun during the robbery, but then pulled it out on a member of the public who chased him down the street, Mr Coleman said.
He then turned the corner into Stout St and pointed the gun at a woman, demanding her wallet.
She gave it to him and the man ran off to a 1990 grey Daihatsu Charade, with the registration number PR1574.
