How hard is it to (or can anyone) set up a programe / system, that produces documents from data entry, links with invoicing/accounts, etc. Like a freight system, data base sort of thing.... Or should I say a server kind of thing... Sorry if I am not very clear...hopefully someone understands what I am getting at...thanks.

Yeah basically like a data base. With lots of different jobs as they are entered. And documents can be pulled from those data in a certain format... A bit like pulling an invoice from xero.

基本上就是从不同系统取到数据，然后生成文档。

难易程度要看你的数据源系统和你期望的文档格式，原理不难。

Unless there is a large data volume and user base, in general this kind of system is quite straightforward - any computer science graduate should be able to get it to work.

That said, having a solution that works, is poles apart from a solution that comes with a level of maturity in terms of productivity, usability, maintainability, cost-efficiency and security. It depends on how much you want to spend and who you employ to do the work.

It is like building a house - you could spend $2000 to build a shed that shelters, or you can spend $1,000,000 for a proper home with some luxury.

We can extract data from any sources and transform the data(build relationship) and load to any type of destination (dw, files) with pentaho solution.

简单的？VBA就可以，没有编程背景的Excel高手也可以。楼上说的CS毕业生也可以。

复杂的？奥巴马医保的health.gov，从十几个联邦政府数据库抓数据为用户生成报告（性价比最高的医疗保险plan），花了快3亿美元，现在还不怎么工作，政府从Google，Facebook和微软拉了一帮人来修，现在还在修。

一切都要看你的数据源的纯度，可维护性，扩展性还有你报表对数据处理的要求。

ok people, so I've done some investigation...most of what it is - is excel based i think... with certain templates for data pulling if you know what I mean...it even seems simple to me...and I don't know much IT :)

Anyone interested? we can talk about this...can be a nice little project on the side....please message me. Note: good command of english required..........thanks.

i would suggest you to:
- list out all your requirements of the targeting system:
  - number of users
  - type of reports
  - how to input your data (e.g. keyboard, bar-code scan...etc)
  - how to retreve your data (e.g. search by product code/customer name...etc)
- what is your existing data format (e.g. excel, loose-leaf paper...etc)

think thoughtfully before you call someone in.  Consultation may incur charges (ok, this is free).

这怎么也得一个BA，一个consultants，两个写代码的，三个tester，一个team lead，一个project manager，没十万预算你别出来混

haha you guys are on to it, and haha to LS, not that big of a project, I would say this is a smallish project for most IT gurus.

Currently using excel for data, word for templates etc. and paper flying everywhere, 3 users. no barcode scanning required. Very easy job.

There is no simple job for IT. I had a project with an Excel file less than 10000 records and required a client lookup function. It ended up a 7 tables database and whole 3 months works.

if it's simple, why don't just try MS excel or access?
data entry and reprots all ready to go and shared online these days.
cheap and easy option until you know what exact data you dealling with.

And having it somewhat customised will work better....
