Residents of 53 Port Hills homes that were green-zoned are now in limbo after a city council report deemed their land at risk of ''catastrophic'' damage.
The first of a series of reports looking at slope stability on the Port Hills after Canterbury's earthquakes was released today.
The Christchurch City Council commissioned the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences Ltd (GNS Science) to complete reports in response to changes in the stability of slopes in the area following the Canterbury earthquakes.
