A message that just got sent round our office by a staff member who's husband is in the police, time to be extra vigilant.
We have been made aware of recent suspicious activity in parts of Hamilton North and particularly in the Rototuna and Rototuna North areas.
Reports lately of the mains water (tap at the footpath) being turned off by unknown persons. This is possibly being done by people scooping the area for empty or vacant houses. They return the next day and if the mains water still off they may take the opportunity to burgle the property.
Also, noted is unusual paint marks being left on properties, bottles filled with sand, or coloured ribbons tied near addresses.
These are all signs that a suspicious person maybe in your area.
If you see any suspicious persons or vehicles in your area, day or night please contact the Police on 111.
Remember to look out for your neighbour’s property as well as your own.
Also, there is a lot of activity in some streets where the broad band cables are being laid. These workmen should not be entering properties or interfering with any vehicles. Their area of work should be on the grass verge only.
