A growing number of information technology workers in Australia are now hunting for work in New Zealand, says recruitment company Absolute IT.

Director Grant Burley said the company had seen a 165 per cent jump in the number of Australian-based candidates for New Zealand jobs between March and May, when compared with the same period last year.

The number in each three-month period had leapt from just 38 to 102.

Most were New Zealanders who had previously moved to Australia, Burley said, but Absolute IT had also seen growing interest in local opportunities from candidates born in Australia.

They tended to settle in well in New Zealand, he said.

Meanwhile, New Zealanders were realising the "Australian dream" was not as rosy as they had been led to believe, he said.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported last week that IBM Australia was likely to lay off 1500 staff, with one analyst speculating many of the jobs would be "offshored" to New Zealand.

"This could be the perfect storm for New Zealand companies and job seekers to capitalise on," said Burley.

"The New Zealand IT industry continues to heat up, driven by the explosion of new technologies, increased business technology needs, the success of our world-leading tech businesses and the constant array of start-ups popping up each month."

看一个国家的经济，只要看他们的汇率就知道了。

澳元：美元, 去年曾经 1.1, 现在跌到 0.9 了

澳元：纽币, 去年 1.35, 现在跌到 1.20

澳洲矿业占他们ＧＤＰ的比例很大的。

最近中国经济减速（从去年9％到现在大概~7%，而且还往下减)，特别是房地产开发几乎停顿，铁矿需求大降，价格也大跌。所以澳洲矿业受打击很大。
