At uni now, can't type in Chinese... no matter professional or amateur, it is always good to think about your frame, before you actually press the shutter release. Most people won't have that much time to think through, even if they know the rules. I understand it must be hard to shift into "photography mode" from "working mode" during lunch, but if you keep practicing, you might master the trick at some point.
If you take a walk regularly, try to go without a camera sometimes, but keep observing as if you have a camera. Then pull out your camera the next day and shoot what you had in mind.
