Toastmaster club每个社区都有，参加的主要目的就是提高沟通和演讲能力！基本上都是洋人！有的时候要即兴演讲！今天第二次去，糗大了！人家说了一个topic,然后让我即兴发言！我站上去自我介绍后就说了几句！然后就下去了，丢人啊！有参加过的同学给点经验！

不过对英语是第二语言的人来讲确实很challenge啊！

而且不必觉得丢脸，去的洋人也很多是不自信的，他们去那里也是为了锻炼的

i was forced by my first boss to attend toastmasters club, stayed for 2 years until i leave the job.
sucked a lot initially, once you've done all the speech and tried all the roles, you will be amazed how it transformed you, getting much confident with public speaking. table topics must be hard for you if you just started, but try to be flexiable, say someting that you feel comforatble, and practise more you will be fine mate

I was in the same club with Alex actually. It is a good place to practise public speaking skills but it is just difficult to find a topic to talk about.

Also, many roles like evaluator, require one to comment on other's speeches but there are not much one could say on one's speaking performance.

The other weird thing for me is Toastmaster always talk about 'leadership' - while I understand a leader must be able to speak up to a crowd, just by atteding the meeting and giving speech would not necessarily make myself a leader?
