'Significant' Asian finance conference for Auckland

The 17th Asian Finance Conference to be held in Auckland from July 9 will be the most significant finance conference staged in New Zealand, according to its organisers at Massey University.
The conference is the annual meeting of the Asian Finance Association, made up of academics with research interests in Asian finance, and is being organised with the Financial Management Association, a big United States group of academics and financial managers.
The conference will be held over three days, but will be preceded by a presentation of doctoral research by PhD students the day before it officially starts.
Professor Lawrence Rose from Massey's commerce faculty at Albany and Associate Professor Martin Young from the finance, banking and property faculty on the Palmerston North campus are the key organisers.
Prof Young, a board member of the Asian Finance Association, said it would be "the most significant finance conference held in New Zealand".
Previous conferences held in Kuala Lumpur, Taipei and Tokyo, have attracted regional leaders and nobel laureates as keynote speakers.
