Bay of Plenty's Lisa Carrington has won New Zealand's fifth gold medal of the London Olympics in the inaugural women's 200-metre K-1 at Dorney Lake.
Carrington, the reigning world champion, came through late to win in a time of 44.638 seconds and become the first female New Zealander to capture a medal in canoe sprint.
Inna Osypenko-Radomska of Ukraine won silver while three-time Olympic champion and Hungarian kayaking great Natasa Douchev-Janics took bronze.
The London Games marks the first time 200-metre races have been staged at an Olympics.
