It is very helpful. I have already done the questions in your post. They are quite tricky to me. English is not up to standard. Sigh.... I wonder if there has been any international student who had an offer.........

I know some of my classmates (international students back then) have offer from big4.But they work for ras(risk advisory services) as IT auditor.I assume you apply for Accountant?
The competition is quite high so be prepared.Lots of people have master degree or conjoint degree(BE and BCOM,law and bcom)

这是当时2008 年assessment day的考题。

先说说我的，在这之前interview 了一些公司。第一次正式的interview 是 e&y,大家可能不知道big4 accouting firm 是要IT Graduate的，而且每年的人数都在增长，因为现在很多大的公司都有很大system,所以需要一些人来做information system auditing.我个人感觉这对 IS 毕业的人来说是个机会，当然除了big4 以外一些本地的和审计相关的大一点的公司也要IT的人的。（希望有人可以补充）。我想大家可能觉得有的时候申请这样的公司可能进取得希望不大，不过我感觉去了e&y assessement day ,你基本上把在 nz 所有的interview 的种类都见到了。 partner interview ,group assessment , psychometric testing.而且会给你信心，你将来在去interview 的话就会更加从容。interview 的内容和网上介绍的都差不多，不过好像他们会问你，你最近有没有在报纸上看到一些商业信息，这些信息是什莫，你对他又什莫样的看法？我interview的时候有，去年朋友 interview 的时候也有。那个group assessement 很麻烦，你们一组人要一起完成一个项目，我们当时是看一个用一种古代文字写的instruction。每个人会份到2-3张卡片，上面写着每个词的意思或者一些条件。你不能让任何人看到你的卡片，只能用verbal communication 去告诉大家。大家在一起又要竞争，又要合作在规定的时间内完成这个问题。一些hr 得人会坐在旁边给每个人大分。我感觉引入这个人很聪明，不过就苦了我们留学生，语言问题真的是。。。唉！不过我感觉interview 完了以后感觉很好，超级喜欢从哪个写子楼上看海景。不过最后人家没要我。（希望有去过big4 或者类似的公司的人补充）
2007 年的assessment day，我记不清了，好像是说一个公司要做些公益的事，给你你很多的charity的资料，然后给了你这个公司的资料，问你要选哪个charity才更适合这个公司，为什么。我的感觉是，在这里出生的华人和印度人在group assessment比较牛。

This year, only KPMG and EY have the group assessment. As you said, it is hard for us to compete with locals. So I am targeting the other two. Do you know anything about the second tier firms?

Not really,but I heard BDO is not very nice to work.My mate used to work there and work like 60 hours a week.Not sure this is normal for accountant in big4.

haha......I know people who used to work for BDO, PWC and Deloitte................they are all the same.........slave driver.............60 hours a week is normal...........lol..........

Then I guess the working condition is kind of like IT worker in China then.I am glad I did not get any offer from them.

I know it is going be tough, but I am ready to sacrifice my health for two years..........Hope they open the hell door for me..........lol....

稍微补充一下,四大这几年(尤其是金融危机后)一般都是先从自己的Intern中招人,如果招不满的话再看别的人.WHK 是个很有意思的公司,它每年会在高中生中招TRAINEE ACCOUNTANT, 比较典型的就是WHK SOUTH. BDO和GT每年招的人数不定但是量不大.其他的Local accounting firm 有时只招1-2个人或者根本不招. 现在有的公司已经明确说明只招新西兰公民, 所以对国际留学来说压力是很大的.

How good the academic transcripts do you need for applying big four? Are you an accounting bachelor graduate?

I think they look at you as a whole package. There would be an advantage if you have an average A- above. However if you have other things to offer, such as working experience, volunteer involvement etc.....grades are not that important........but of course not average c......

I did the test on Monday and I would say it is hard, especially the verba onel. The main problem is the time and you are not supposed to finsh all these questions. You are only given 20 mins for each part.

For each part, you will be given several passages, each passage is less than 100 words but with many strange words i think and there are four quesitons associated. There are 24 questions in total for verbal one and should be 24 as well for numerical one, cannot remeber. The numerical part is ok, but you need to be really fast.

Thanks for your tips. Good luck with your application too. Did you go to the Deloitte function in AKL uni tonight? I find I like them the most among the 4.

got phone interview from deloitte last week, and screw it up.
then this week, I already got rejected from deloitte.

How long did it take for them to call you after you had submitted CV? Did you get the personality test before they called you?

I did the test today..........for verbal reasoning, only got time to answer the first question for the third passage...........I did not have enough time to finish the numerical either......cant remember how many questions I have answered.

oh, really, you like deloittle the most. why you like it the most? anything special that attract your attention. I have a good impression on Deloitte as well, preparing for the application for it. have you submitted the application. I should go to the function as well, I was planning to go, but then..... sigh. From my memory from somewhere that Pwc would give phone interview on Saturday. not sure about it. do you know any information about the phone interview.

Really? Is your source reliable? I went to all the PWC seminars and did not recall they mentioned anything about the phone interview. They just said that it would take them around 10 days to reply after the test is done.

I am not sure about whether there is a phone interview, maybe I went to too many presentations and got them mixed up. sorry. So you sure there is no phone interview for pwc's assessment, right? that is a pretty good news then. thanks

今年PWC的presentation我去听了，HR介绍的说在face to face interview之前，有phone interview。

just a couple of days after I submitted my application.
The interview and personality test was on the same day.
They called me on weekday, around 6pm

I did not apply for KPMG. From what I heard from a lot of people, they like people who have strong leadership skill. They train their staff to be very dominant and in control of everything. If you are offered to attend ACE, show them that you have the attribute they are looking for.

My friend received a call from Deloitte on weekday. They asked three questions. Why Deloitte? Why you chose this service line? Your outlook for NZ for the next 12 months. Good luck!
