Has been in New Zealand for almost 10 years and this is my first time to Muriwai beach.

It was an amazing beach, it is clean and beautiful.

The weather was great, although it rains for a short while but I got dramatic clouds to take in my photos.

Other than the beach, the Gannet coloney is amazing... getting so close to the nature and able to that some close shot of the seabirds is simply amazing.

建议谈不上，只是感觉有点不对，找不到照片的重点，角度构图也可以重新设计一下。楼主可以多看看一些拍的比较好的照片。拍风景和动物确实都不容易

hmm... might be the way I took and focus on the subject is a little different from your preference and perspective...  

As for the wide angle shot, how would you take the picture?
- For pic 5, I have used rule of thirds, subject is wave versus the cloud in the sky
- For pic 6, I have use the kid as the subject and balance out with the empty space on the right
- For pic 7, the subject is reflection, using water to reflect the grass and rocks

I looked at lots of the famous photographer's work and try to understand why they took the picture that way, would be nice to know more on how they would look at the subject and how to take the picture...

I tried not to over saturate the colour and keeping the contrast nice
--> no contrast and under saturate colour = flat picture    unless that is my objective...

Nice photos! i like them!
A small comment (hope you don't mind), i think some of the photos the composition is a little bit  too "centered", for example, the 2nd to last photo, the kid is almost right at the vertical center (even thou horizontall it's at 1/3 of the frame).  So if i were to reshoot this photo, i might zoom in say 30% more,  and put the kid a bit lower in the photo,  I might also move to the right a few steps so the little island in the background is back to where it is right now (otherwise zoom in would crop part of the island out of the frame), just some personal opinion and i could be completely wrong :)

but anyway i think they are all quite nice, makes me want to go there again!

and how come you've never been to Muriwan before!!

no worries, I like comment cos it helps me improved my skill
I agree the kid is on the vertical center but rule of a thirds doesn't need to be applied on both vertical and horizontal, if I remember correctly from the book but I might be wrong :)
because I want to include more sea than sky, too bad the kid is too far in the sea... :)
I agree the picture looks better without the rock

Muriwai is indeed a lovely place...

I have been busy with study and work... and now I am leaving NZ soon so I have more time now to take pics

i wanted to bring my tripod but it was a family day, and i am driver and photographer that day so hardly had my own time taking pics and video... all pictures and videos were taken as quickly as I can...

i have to use my hand and try to stabilise my heavy lense (80-200mm f/2.8) and strong wind...

oh yes, definitely will bring a tripod next and maybe shoot something else more interesting, also hope to improve my photography...

Pic 1 and 2 is easy as they dun walk around quickly but for Pic 3, has to be quick as they fly around very quickly

Viewers remember to 切换到宽板 as some photos are cropped by the forum board width
