I recently came across a lovely old lady who is a hundred year old.
She is profoundly deaf and nearly has lost all her eye sights; her memory is patchy as well.
While all the people around her are telling her that how wonderful she looks for her age, she said that she would rather be dead. Life does not have much meaning for her.
After seeing her, it makes me think, everyone is pursuing immortality nowadays. Do we really want to live that old? Will we be happy be then?

Do people really want to live that long? Or is it because they are afraid of death? Afraid of the unknown? 怕死?

I have come across lots of people. They do love to live that long. Not sure why though. I agree with you, there is a group of people who are afraid of death.

当然想活得长了，想死的基因根本就不可能延续，大家都是想活的基因的后代
