Two separate devices gives you more control.. for example if you happen to change your connection type down the road, eg: wireless, fibre, VDSL2 instead of ADSL2+.. you only have to change the part 1 not part 2.

A standalone router (part 2) will always have better spec's, more options, more flexibility than an all in one.

There are a few options for the two parts.........

Part 1: Modem/Router for ADSL2+

Draytek Vigor 120 ~$90
- Does PPPoA to PPPoE bridging

TP Link TD 8840 ~$60
- Does PPPoA half bridge

Part 2: Router/Switch/Wireless

Asus RT N16 ~$200
- 128 MB RAM, 480 CPU, 32MB flash
- Gigabit LAN
- Wireless B/G/N, 2.4ghz frequency (not dual band)
- Can be flashed with TomatoUSB

TP-Link TL-WR1043ND ~$100
- 32MB ram, 400mhz CPU, 8M flash
- Gigabit LAN
- Wireless B/G/N, 2.4ghz frequency (not dual band)
- Can by flashed with OpenWRT/Gargoyle Router

Linksys E4200 ~$270
- 64MB RAM, 480mhz CPU, 16MB flash
- Gigabit LAN
- Wireless B/G/N, 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequency (dual band)
- Can be flashed with TomatoUSB or DD-WRT

PC running pfsense ~$??
- Whatever you have/like
- Use a $50 gigabit switch
- Use a cheap B/G/N access point
- Run pfsense

Misc

TomatoUSB, DD-WRT, OpenWRT/Gargoyle Router:
Custom 3rd party open source firmware with better web admin ui than stock firmware, usually lots more options like: Decent QoS settings, good traffic monitoring, quota systems, vpn client server etc.

pfsense:
Popular open source firewall/router software based on FreeBSD. Good web admin ui, loads of options and features.

Dual band:
Device basically has two AP's, you can put all the B/G devices on 2.4ghz and the N on 5ghz which means N devices are not slowed down by mixed mode. Or you can just use the 5ghz freq for everything which is good when you have a lot of other AP's around using 2.4ghz.

從台灣帶回了一台RT-n16, 折合紐幣才$100...比這邊便宜一半阿=_="

目前是dynalink rta1025w bridge mode to RT-n16, 還用router直接刷tomato脫機下bt...
