A Northland woman has been spotted breastfeeding while driving.

Police were called to the Whangarei suburb of Kamo after members of the public complained about her erratic driving.

Three other children were also in the car.

Sergeant John Fagan says police were unable to catch her in the act but are following it up with the registered owner of the vehicle.

The matter has also been referred to CYFS.
