Beginning in New Zealand, this event will spread time zone by time zone across the globe through over 60 countries. Together we aim to create a healing wave of calmness, reflection and peace.

The annual WTCQD is officially recognised by the United Nations World Health Organisation and aims to promote and educate the world to the benefits of practising Tai Chi and Qigong.

Research has shown that the relaxed, slow, graceful, balanced, and coordinated movements of Tai Chi and Qigong can increase the flow of Qi/Chi (life force), reduce anxiety, depression, and chronic pain conditions.
They can boost the immune system, improve respiratory function, burn calories, dramatically improve balance, improve cardiovascular benefit, provide powerful stress management tools, and slow aspects of the ageing process.

This year抯 event will be held on Saturday, 30th April. The morning programme will include demonstrations and mass displays of Tai Chi and Qigong by combined clubs and schools.
For the second year running there will be a Tai Chi competition in the afternoon.

Not so well known in NZ is that Tai Chi is also a competitive sport and being a major part of Wushu (Chinese martial arts) it is recognised by the International Olympic Committee.
The competition has been especially designed to cater for practitioners of all skill levels, from the relative beginner to the best of our Wushu competitors, and will be run under the rules of the international body IWUF.

The WTCQD event in Auckland is organised by the New Zealand National Tai Chi Chuan Association Inc. Auckland Sub-Committee.
The event is open not only to Tai Chi & Qigong practitioners, but also to the general public, and spectators are welcome.
