There is a fee to take a claim to the Disputes Tribunal. But as no lawyers are involved you will avoid a lawyer’s bill, unless you choose to seek legal advice before the hearing. Lawyers cannot attend a hearing with you or appear on your behalf.
You need to pay the following fee to the Tribunal when you lodge your claim.
If the total amount sought under the claim is less than $1,000 $30.67
If the total amount sought under the claim is $1,000 or more but less than $5,000 $51.11
