folks - just wondering if we have a Chinese IT worker community/social group already set up in auckland ? if there is one, I liked to join, want to share info, networking, business ideas with IT professionals in Auckland.

If we dont have one, lets form a social group! I am keen to organise it, perhaps we can start with a meetup every two weeks to get it going.

I know there are a few who indicated their interest but have not yet send me their email, could you guys send me your email ASAP.

The plan is I'll send out an email to organise our first meetup (likely to be an yumcha over the weekend)

Ok, I will form one, shall we call it "Chinese ICT professional social club" ? (any other names are welcomed). lets try get this post going to get as many people (who wanted to join) as possible. Then we'll grab some cash from government.

I think we can start with yumchar meeting in the weekend, have some food and have a chat about stuff to start with. Maybe have a yumchar meeting once every two week, and see how it goes from here. If you are interested, please respond to the post, and i'll keep a list, once we reach 5 or 6 people, i can book in a time for yumchar

It is good idea ,however it is not fun to have .Net people talking all about SharePoint and sql server while Java people talking about some fantastic Framework and Oracle database , php people talking about all the cool stuff from facebook and wordpress.
If you really like to go to some user groups and socialising ,check out here.http://www.dot.net.nz/
It might be a good idea ,but having a group of folks taking about geeky stuff @ yumchar is not fun.

i've had a look at the website, seems like its a Microsoft tech suite user group, I go to the java user group at time... i guess you are right, if people talk about sharepoints, .NET, Spring, hibernate stuff during yumchar, then it'll be not fun at all, but there are other topic we can cover like company culture, business ideas, career planning, or talking about terrible workmate/bosses etc... i think its the getting to know other like minded people will be the main focus and benifit

Yes please sign up, we are shy geek who shakes and when there is girl around, so looks like we got 4 people keen already! Looking good! Could the guys keen on joining leave a email address so that I can start organizing our first meetup.

have PM'ed you my email. I will be on leave for the next 4 weeks or so (from end of Jan till end of Feb), so unless you guys are organising sometime this week, or else i won't be joining till i am back to Auckland. :)

good luck.

BTW do drop me an email if you are going to organise something, i current maintain similar list within Telecom and there are about 50 of us on the list, and most of us on the list work in IT (various different part of IT in Telecom/gen-i).

其實這裡的華人做IT的就一大堆是什麼特別群體呢 LZ要麼就幹大它把它變成一個真正在華人業界有影響力的組織否則這個什麼網絡個人認為就只是個吃吃喝喝比比人工看看誰一山還有一山高 (看過樓主以前的帖覺得樓主好像挺好此道的) 兼乘機認識認識業內女生交流交流的口水會而已或者可能是我想多了樓主其實大概也不過真的只是想這樣罷了有點說白了呵呵不好意思 :)

說完了樓主不喜歡請無視我別拍我拿分走人了各位IT大大請繼續你們的建黨大業祝馬到功成....

i think it is possible to make it into something with industrial influence, but it requires more than my effort, so to start with, if we can get it going with some social event and establish a core team, then we can look to see how we can have a crack at turing it into a influential organisation
