刚刚收到邮件，nDeva即将被Student Services Online取代。

多少个enrol时的困惑，
多少个选课而被waiting list时的郁闷，
多少个看学费时的心痛，
多少个查成绩时的心惊胆战，
这一切的一切即将成为过去。

怀念一下。

新系统上线，一般会有6~18个月的混乱期，所以如果你要注册或选课，还是要赶在新系统上线前。

well actually the new system is still PeopleSoft, its an upgrade from PeopleSoft 7 to PeopleSoft 9.

and they removed the old peoplesoft frontend, and completely rebuild it with grail and groovy, and used weblogic for integration.

so its pretty much just a frontend change, might look better, but its still the old ndeva as we know it, and it costed over 10 million for the project

One reason to choose Grails/Groovy is - do not need run app within Weblogic!!! I am joking. But it is really painful to work with WL!

你指的painful 是对于grail/groovy 来说的吗？
从纯粹J2EE 的角度 weblogic 可是one of the best 啊你想试试什么叫pain 可以用一下oracle 自己的OC4J (weblogic 是后来买BEA的现在oracle 也逐步淘汰自己的crap 了基本来说除了老本行database oracle 没有其他东西是自己做的好的好的都是买回来的）

Without concern of Grails/Groovy, WL is horrible, With concern of GG, WL is terrible.

Anything can be counted as one of the best, it depends on the scenario. I guess there are certain place WL is/was the best of best, but I did found yet, sorry for my poor working experience.

J2EE itself is quite questionable now, not too many place need full J2EE solution now. Even it is needed, it is still questionable to pick up WL/WS. Jboss is more cheap. Or use tomcat with certain open source message broker, you can get all benefit from JEE by free and easy-use.

说到钱就很难说谁比谁好了 CIO 们考虑的不是说open source 就是free 他们还是要买企业版和support 的算起来red hat 的不一定就比oracle 的便宜 linux 也不一定比windows 便宜具体案例要具体分析（就如技术上的东西）

anyway 还是不宜在这讨论太不合大众的东西
