This service allows you to connect your laptop to the AUT network wirelesly (Web access only). Once logged in, you will be able to browse the Internet.
Step 1: Activate your UniSurf Access
Go to the Internet Login Page on an AUT machine (https://cache.aut.ac.nz). On the left hand side on the dark blue menu. There is a "Guest Network" or "UniSurf" option. Click on that and follow the instructions. You will need to agree to our Computer Use Policies and then at the next step, click the Enable button. One selected, this will enable your account to be used on the wireless UniSurf network.
Step 2: Configure Internet Explorer
Open Internet Explorer and click on Tools then Internet Options
Click on the Connections tab and then click LAN Settings
Tick the box labeled Automatically detect settings and then click OK to apply the settings. Close all open Internet Explorer Windows
For Mozilla Firefox, go to Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Settings and make sure that "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network" has been selected.
Step 3: Connect to UniSurf
Ensure that the wireless switch on your laptop is set to ON. Right Click on the wireless icon in the task bar and then select Connect to a network.
Click on AUT-Unisurf-City then click the Connect button. The password for this is: unisurf2
Please note that if you are at the Manukau Campus, you will need to connect to AUT-Unisurf-Manukau. Likewise, if you're at the North Shore Campus, you'll need to connect to AUT-Unisurf-NorthShore
Enter the passphrase: unisurf2 then Connect
Open Internet Explorer. Browse to: https://unisurf.aut.ac.nz and login with your AUT login name and password.
Once logged in you will get the Login Ticker window. Leave this window open until you have finished using UniSurf.
You will now be able to use the Internet and browse to websites. When finished using UniSurf, click the Logout button from the Login Ticker window.
