Be in to win a $500 Digital Camera

Show your photographic flair and imagination!

Petals, Passion, Possibilities

Themes

{    Petals ?the fascination of flowers in detail or en masse

   {    Passion ?Love, romance, feeling - in the subject or the eyes of the photographer

   {    Possibilities ?dreams and their realisation, the metamorphosis from bud to bloom, awkward caterpillar to                            beautiful butterfly厖..

Awards:

Certificates and prizes will be awarded to entries which the judges decide most memorably portray Petals, Passion or Possibilities.

Entries exemplifying particular aspects of the character of Christchurch may also gain awards as determined by the judges.

The judges will categorise entries as appropriate; entrants need not specify a category.

The overall Winner will receive a Digital Camera up to the value of $500.00, a trophy plus a 12 month complimentary membership to Christchurch Photographic Society. (Value: $80.00)

The three runner up awards will each receiving a complimentary 12 month membership to the Christchurch Photographic Society plus a trophy.

{    Entrants under 18 years are eligible for an additional award.

All images selected by the judges will be exhibited at the Canterbury Museum 9-19 February 2006

Romance and Flowers Festival Photo Competition

Prescription                         Your challenge is to attract and hold a viewer抯 interest with an image which captures part of the essence of Christchurch, the romantic garden city by portraying Petals, Passion and Possibilities.

Closing Date                         Friday 20 January 2006.

Deliver entries to:                Christchurch Garden City Trust, Suite 301, 3rd floor, Science Alive Building,
392 Moorhouse Avenue, Christchurch Hours: 10am-4pm Monday-Friday

Or post entries to:                P O Box 19 672, Woolston, Christchurch 8030

Competition Conditions:

The Image                            Capture of the original image, whether on film or digital media, must have been by the contestant. Post capture manipulation by photographic printing or digital means, if any, must be predominantly done by the entrant. Printing may be carried out by any process.

Presentation                            The competition is open to prints only. For protection and to aid handling all entries must be on a mount stiff enough to allow them to stand upright. A surrounding mat is optional; the print may be simply fixed to a card. The quality of the mounting is not part of the judging. Prints in frames will not be accepted.

Original image                         The original negative, transparency or digital file of successful images must be made available to the competition organisers upon request so prints of a consistent standard may be prepared for display.

Size                                        Maximum allowable overall size of the mount is 40 x 30 cm. (Or 16? x 12?

Number of entries                   Each entrant may submit up to 4 entries. Judges decision will be final.

Return of work                   The organisers will take all possible care of entries but can accept no liability for loss or damage. Prints will be returned only if stamped and addressed return packaging is included. They can be collected from Garden City Trust Office.

Copyright                            The Garden City Trust shall be entitled to use images for publicity and related purposes free of charge but in all other respects entrants retain ownership of copyright. Photographers will be acknowledged where possible.

Model releases                   Images of recognisable individuals, other than known celebrities in public places, may require permission for publication. Entrants must be prepared to obtain such permission for successful images.

Young Photographer          Entrants under 18 years at the closing date will be eligible for an additional award.
