第一,,你护照丢失了,,当然要向当地警察局报失并索要报警记录..

第二,,尽快报告大使馆..内容包括在纽西兰的前后经历、护照遗失经过、时间、地点、护照号码、发照时间、发照机关,,本人住址、电话等。

第三,,,登报纸,,登报声明"XXX遗失中华人民共和国第XXXXXX号护照，声明作废"（连续刊登2期以上）。如记不清护照号码。请暂勿登报，由大使馆或总领馆向原发照机关核实后，再登报。

第四..前往大使馆索取护照丢失及补发申请表格，填妥后随报警记录、登报声明、2X2正面护照照片两张，往中国大使馆办理有关补发手续。
有关具体的事,,你可以到大使馆的网站查询..

楼主..下次小心点啊~~护照那么重要的东西尽量少带在身上,,
实在要带在身上就要小心看管..
丢失护照太麻烦了~

不登报，如果被人捡取护照去非法使用，责任归个人！
如登报，护照即使被人非法使用，就没责任！但前提必须先去警察局报失

直接到警察局报案就好了~~~~~，要告诉警察你的名字，生日，护照号，还有怎么掉的，就可以了

护照补发
护照被窃、遗失或损坏应立即向使馆报告，并亲自来使馆申请补发。补发护照不接受邮寄申请。所需材料为：1. 警方报失证明原件(需写明遗失中国护照及护照号码)；5 g/ I- v9 I6 N4 W8 J: X( K
2. 填写“护照遗失经过和补发申请表”；
3. 原护照资料页复印件(如确无法提供，请在申请中注明)，及其它证明具有中国国籍的文件；
4. 新西兰有效签证或许可的复印件，或新西兰移民局出具的签证证明
5. 填写“中华人民共和国护照旅行证申请表”并签名

I have just done it today..
all you have to do is:
1) Go to the police station and tell the guy you have lost your passport. He will ask you to provide the general details including your personal details and how and when did you lose your passport? You do not need to fill anything and it is all done for you. You just need to sign it in the end.
2) Later, they will ring the immigration to cease all legal visa/ permits in your lost passport and will give you two copies of the report; one for applying a new passport and the other one for getting a new NZ visa.

About applying the new passport, well, simple aye, just fill in the forms, pay the money, attach the documents (including the police report) and photos that the chinese embassy requires you to do.
