I have lost the motivation and momentun to work.....

My manager had a serious conversation with me today.....

Are there anyone had the experience of being lost in work? How did you motivate yourself?

我也有过，每个人都有up and down的时候。找你最喜欢的方式放松一下。
我就去跳舞。去dance studio跳4个小时

Yes, after the first year I have lost all my motivation. It is hard to keep your self always motivated.

Seems I am having the same problem...

nothing much you can do, i think my way is to meet more friends, spend all my money shopping, eat, travel...

until u have no savings then you will be motivated.

To be honest Sam, it is very hard to keep motivating yourself when you are doing stats. Honestly, stats is a dodgy subject, I have really found this. When we had lectures, the lecturers well most of them made the subject very interesting. But this is the flip side, the more interesting a subject is in class, the worse it is in real practice. Lecturers needed the perfect examples to hide all the bad examples in real life.

I think research is a really depressing area to work in because you are almost always wasting your time doing nothing useful in the end. I tried my current job and this assured me that I can't work like this forever.

having a steady paycheck and making sure my credit card & house mortgage payments are paid on time helps to motivate me.

But then again I'm pretty lazy at work because work load is never 100% in 5 years I have worked.

Robert Kiyosaki's books motivate me to stay where I am but keep looking for oportunities =)

ps. I had same problems but my manager just agreed to increase my salary, now I get motivation again.

   - 70%: to maintain at same level (Vast majority)
