应该理解为:

还是应该理解为:
How the pathway of entry could affect the impact of plant pathogens should they arrive in NZ, along with interactions between hosts, plant pathogens and environment.

好象你的理解对路
不过,为什么原句
between hosts, plant pathogens, and environment
之后没有逗号?
还有就是between能用在3个事物上吗?
