My salary is already over the 19.9% tax line. I am still using the 19.9% rate from uni. Should I inform my bank about this? If I don't, will I get trouble from IRD?

Your bank will send you an annual Tax Summary for your interest payments.

This will also be sent to the IRD. It is the responsibility of IRD to inform you how much taxes you owe.

So be prepared to pay if IRD does send out an invoice to you.
